Savage Arts Council Sponsors 2010 Juried Art Show

The Savage Arts Council is pleased to announce the 2010 Juried Art Show, open to all amateur and professional artists in Minnesota. The 4th annual Juried Art Show will feature a variety of art forms including oil paintings, photography and sculpture.

The Savage Arts Council is organizing and sponsoring this event as part of their mission to support artistic projects and events. “This show gives Minnesota artists the opportunity to share their art with a broader audience and to provide residents with local venues to see unique art in their community,” said Denise Baerg, Savage Arts Council, Board Secretary.

Richard Kochenash, a professional artist and instructor from Chaska MN, will judge show entries. Prizes totaling $1200 will be awarded in six categories, and presented during the Juried Art Show Reception and Award Ceremony on June 13 from 11:30 – 2:00. The reception is open to all Minnesota residents and media.

Welcome to The Artie in Us!

“Artie” is a new term I coined that is a takeoff on the word “foodie”. A foodie is an amateur who appreciates food preparation, presentation, and of course eating.

Similar to a foodie, an Artie(c) is someone who loves art of all kinds, supports the creative process and encourages artist expressions in many forms.

This blog will feature a variety of artists and explore their inspirations and the creative processes used to develop their art. It will also publish art programs and events that are of interest to readers.

I hope, as a fellow Artie, you enjoy exploring the world of art that we have in all of us.

Kind regards,

Denise Baerg
